Abstract
Climate change is the greatest public policy issue of our time. If humanity is to respond to the challenges it poses, education has a key role to play in promoting understanding and helping individuals, society and governments to make informed choices. This paper dwelt on the relevance of education to the issues emanating from increasing changes in climate, both globally and locally. The paper presented various definitions of and corresponding opinions on climate change by scholars and researchers. It discussed global climate change policy practices, causes and effects of climate change as well as the use of education as a tool to combat climate change. The paper put forward recommendations among which were the fact that government should educate and build civil capacity groups in carrying out climate solution measures, promote researches and adaptive mechanisms to climate change impact, in Nigeria.
