Climate change has become one of the major global challenges of the 21st century. It has been observed that the developing countries of the world (Nigeria inclusive) will suffer most from the impacts of climate change. As the world battles with measures of finding lasting solution to the problem of climate change, this study examines the level of awareness of the problem among students of tertiary institutions in Jalingo Metropolis of Taraba state, Nigeria. Given the magnitude and severity of the problem of climate change, it is not surprising that a marked emphasis had been put on the issue over the last two decades, resulting in a series of proposals containing mitigation and adaptation measures. Education is often considered as one of such measures. This study was aimed at assessing the extent to and ways in which global climate change has been addressed in the geography curriculum guides and students’ textbooks for Ethiopian schools....

As a tropical country, Ethiopia has an enormous potential to develop and use environment-friendly sources of energy like solar power. Despite such huge potential to tap electricity form the sun (not to mention the 45,000 MW potential from water), access to electricity is only about 35%. Solar energy technologies, if used widely, could alleviate the problem of rural electrification. This, however, demands a sustained effort to raise awareness about the technologies and develop skills required...

Climate change is the greatest public policy issue of our time. If humanity is to respond to the challenges it poses, education has a key role to play in promoting understanding and helping individuals, society and governments to make informed choices. This paper dwelt on the relevance of education to the issues emanating from increasing changes in climate, both globally and locally. The paper presented various definitions of and corresponding opinions on climate change by scholars and...
